Bessie E. Piotter Thomason, 87, Macy, passed away at 11:25 a.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2012 at her residence.

Born October 22, 1924 in Washington, Indiana she was the daughter of Oscar T. and Ona Burton Ross. She married Arnold H. Piotter in Gulfport, Mississippi on April 12, 1944; he preceded in death on August 14, 1967. On June 18, 1988 she was married to Billy Ray Thomason, and he preceded in death on May 13, 1999.

Bessie was the head cook at North Miami High School for numerous years in addition to her responsibilities on the family's dairy and grain farm in rural northern Miami County. She helped farm for over sixty years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Peru.

Bessie was the proud mother of three children: Jerald H. "Pete" Piotter and wife Carol A. (Hahn), Macy; Sharon L. Dillman and husband Robert E., Macy; and the late Glen A. Piotter who is survived by his wife Helen (Evrard), Macy. She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren, Kimberly J. Eilers and husband Brian, Crestwood, Kentucky; Philip A. Piotter and wife Lisa, Macy; Leanna Bishop and husband Rob, Macy; Laura Johnson and husband Zach, Macy; Billy Dillman, Macy; Arnold Piotter, Macy, Bridget Buck and husband Brian, Macy; and Lisa Guse, and husband Tim, Peru; her eleven great grandchildren; and six siblings, Snofa Hanes, Frank Ross, Mary V. Miller, William I. Ross, Oscar E. Ross, and Shirley J. Woosley.

She was preceded in death by one son, Glen A. Piotter; two grandsons, Jerald H. Piotter, Jr. and Robert A. Dillman; and one sister, Snofa Hanes.

Funeral services are being scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Peru with Pastor Kenneth Greenwald officiating. Burial will follow at Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Logansport.

Visitation will be from 2-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
