Brenda Joy Hartleroad, 56, Mexico, passed away at 11:57 p.m. on Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at her residence.
She was born in Peru, Indiana on March 12. 1956. She was raised in Mexico, Indiana by Marvin and Martha Dillman.
She was a 1974 graduate of North Miami High School. She then attended Indiana University in Kokomo, Indiana and received an Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice in 1990. She was a member of the Miami Nation of Indians of Indiana. She was a member of the Mexico First Brethren Church. She was a talented craftswoman; she made beautiful Indian-style jewelry paying close attention to each intricate detail. She was a woman of great compassion and love and enjoyed spending time with others, especially her family. She was proud of her Indian heritage and was an avid promoter of education of the Indian culture to her family and all members of the community.
Survivors include her mother, Martha Dillman, Peru; her children, Stephannie S. Hartleroad, Mexico; Josh Hartleroad, Peru; and Stephanie Chumbley and husband Joe; Denver; grandchildren, Jaleb Hartleroad, Gabriel Hartleroad, Logan Hartleroad, Lauren Hartleroad, Lilly Hartleroad, and David Chumbley; six siblings, Pat Long , Kewanna; Janet Long and husband Tom, Rochester; Sherry Stirling and husband Bob, Peru; Pam Starke, Florida; Harold Bouthot and wife Lori, Peru; and Jay Hartleroad and fiancAC. Carol, Mishawaka.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 26, 2012 at McClain Funeral Home with Pastor Ron Laudenschlager officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery, Miami County.
Visitation will be held 4-8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 25, 2012 at the funeral home.
