Bruce Edwin Cress, 64, Twelve Mile, passed away Friday evening, October 4, 2019, at Memorial Hospital, South Bend.
Born November 18, 1954, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Roger Edwin and Janice K. Fishback Cress. On August 1, 1981, at the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church, he was married to Lori Ann Fisher, and she survives.
Bruce was a 1973 graduate of Caston High School. For the past fifteen years, he has served on the Caston School Board, serving many years as the board’s President. He was a self-employed contractor in the area for over thirty-five years. He enjoyed cars, Nascar and IndyCar racing, IU Basketball, and Cubs Baseball. For many years he belonged to a car club and for over forty-five years, he enjoyed the Indy 500 from the same seats.
Survivors include his wife, Lori Ann Cress, Twelve Mile; three daughters, Kayley A. (James) Motz, Lafayette, Colorado; Kimberly A. Cress, Fargo, ND; and Katherine J. Cress, Twelve Mile; mother, Janice K. Cress, Twelve Mile; brother, Kent R. Cress, Twelve Mile; foreign exchange student, Vicky Von Defuher and several brothers and sisters-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his father, Roger Cress; brother, Randal A. Cress; his mother’s longtime companion, Frank Small, Jr., his parents-in-law, and one brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, with Pastor David Noel officiating. Burial will follow in Skinner Cemetery, rural Cass County.
Visitation will be from 2-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Caston Music or Art Department.
