Carl E. Gibson, 89, Peru, and formerly of Rochester, passed away at 4:26 a.m. Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Caring Hands Health and Rehab, Peru.
He was born on July 18, 1924, in Bunker Hill, the son of Ralph and Carrie (Childers) Gibson.
On April 23, 1944, in Bunker Hill, he married Rosezella Scott. She preceded him in death on May 24, 2004.
Mr. Gibson had been a farmer and had worked at the former Sealed Power in Rochester. He had been a member of the Ebenezer United Methodist Church and the Gilead Masonic Lodge. In his spare time, he enjoyed being with his children and grandchildren, especially teaching all his grandchildren how to ski on Lake Manitou.
Survivors include his daughter, Janice and husband Mickey Horn, Macy; son, Bob and wife Lori Gibson, Rochester; five grandchildren, Troy Horn, Shelly Blair, Kelly Bayless, Brent Gibson and Dana Gibson; six great-grandchildren, Joseph Horn, Hannah Horn, Taylor Horn, Shelton Sumner, Morgan Gibson and Mason Gibson; and sister, Joan Sutton, Kokomo.
He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Todd Horn; and three sisters.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, with the Rev. George Hapner officiating.
Friends may call from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
