Cecil Leon Richie, 72, Peru, passed away at 8:44 a.m. on Tuesday, October 8, 2019, at his residence.

Born July 17, 1947, in Shreveport, Louisiana, he was the son of E. Detroit Richie and Thelma Joyce Richie.  On October 4, 1991, he was married to Claris Ann Tryon Lesley, and she survives.

He was a member of The Cross at the Crossroads, Logansport, Indiana, where he played the trumpet with the praise and worship team. Cecil loved the Lord with all his heart and served the Lord for over 40 years.  In his life he was part of many ministries that reached others involving his trumpet, reach ministry, the food bank, and construction at his church as well.  He was a United States Air Force Veteran and was retired from Schneider Electric in Peru, Indiana.  In his younger years, he loved bowling and golfing

He is survived by his wife Claris Ann Lesley Richie, Peru; three children, Tami (Jason) Baker, Peru; Michael (Tammy) Richie Logansport; Jayme Shackleford, Dayton, Ohio; and three step-children, Danny Lesley, Florida; Tammy (Mike) Eisenmenger, Peru; and Brad Lesley, Peru.  He is also survived by seventeen grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; two sisters, Marilyn (Vernon) Miller, Benton, Louisiana; and Peggy Miller, Keithville, Louisiana; and one brother, Bobby (Debbie) Richie, Benton, Louisiana.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Tina Birchfield, one sister, Patricia Munds; and one brother-in-law, Fred Miller.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 12, 2019, at The Cross at the Crossroads, 1700 East Main Street, Logansport, with Dr. Gregory A. Elkins officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico with Military Graveside Rites provided by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.

Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2019, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church.
