Charles Edward Burns, 98, Denver, Indiana, passed away on Sunday afternoon, July 4, 2021, at his residence.
Born October 5, 1922, in Miami County, Indiana, he was the son of Verl and Ruth A. Imhoof Burns. On January 1, 1944, he was married to Peggy J. Hand, and she preceded him in death on October 5, 2004.
Ed was a lifelong farmer in northern Miami County, where he also owned and operated Ed Burns & Sons Trucking. He was a member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren and a veteran of the Army Air Corp, having served in India and Australia during WWII.
Survivors include two sons, Terry Burns and wife Shari, Denver; Mike Burns and wife Bonnie, Twelve Mile; one daughter, Linda Davidson, Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and twelve great-great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Victor H. Burns, Robert W. Burns, and Richard O. Burns; three sisters, Mary L. Day, Anna L. Davis, and Regina Vigar; and one great-grandchild.
Due to health concerns, the family has chosen to have a private service with burial in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana. Pastor Teri White will officiate and military rites will be presented by the Miami County Military Rites Unit.
