Clay Thomas McCollum, Jr., 78, Peru, (Mexico), Indiana, passed away at 12:43 p.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023, at his residence.
Born March 30, 1945, in Yadkinville, North Carolina, he was the son of Clay Thomas McCollum, Sr. and Ruby (Speer) McCollom Goss. On November 20, 2004, in Peru, Indiana, he was married to Shirlene Botts, and she survives.
Clay was a 1962 graduate of Yadkinsville High School. Following his father’s footsteps, he was a United States Navy Veteran. He retired from Square D Corporation in Peru, Indiana, and was a Member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren, where he had been active with the Men’s Fellowship. Clay enjoyed hunting and being outside mowing, playing on his four wheeler and messing around in his garage.
Survivors include his wife Shirlene McCollum, Peru; children, Children Rhonda Ousley and companion Kim Johnson,Peru ; Robin and Paul Jeffs, Lucerne; Ronald and Denise Mathis, Peru; Regina and Darren Patton, KY; and Randi York, Argos; siblings, Billy and Grayson Goss, NC; and Peggy Hill, KY; special friends, Cy Howell and Schery and Bruce White; best friend, Flex; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, and his favorite fur-baby grand-dogs, Tootsie and Turbo.
Preceding him in death are his parents; and sister, Sarah McCollum; and three grandchildren.
