He taught them how to fish, hunt, and respect the land. He would take his family to Northern Minnesota for two weeks during summer for summer vacation and enjoyed all that the lake had to offer.
Darl never met a stranger in his life and could strike up a conversation with anybody. He loved his community and was always eager to help with community projects. He especially enjoyed setting up/tearing down the annual Twelve Mile Christmas Pageant and participating in it.
