Mother Dorothy Sue (Hall) Joseph was the 9th child of Elder Lewis and Mother Betty Hall. She was saved and filled at an early age. She met the love of her life in 1954 and married in 1955 to Mr. Brenon A. Joseph. To this union she had six daughters.  She always wanted a boy and God gifted her with two sons.

Mother Dorothy worked at Delco Electronics  for 28 years and retired in 1993. After retirement, she then could really focus on the work she loved – the ministry of hospitality and giving.

She was brought up in Grace Memorial C.O.G.I.C. and later joined Refreshing Springs C.O.G.I.C.  In her conversations, she would often  say “I am home away from home” referencing Grace Memorial C.O.G.I.C. But now, she has really gone home.

She served as 1st Assistant to the Mother’s Board, secretary to the Sunday School Department  and Nurse’s Unit, teacher to the Children’s Class on Tuesday’s, a Missions Department worker, food pantry and kitchen worker, a member of the Mother’s Board (Women of Wisdom), and a giver. These are the many ways she served at her churches.

Her favorite hobbies were “cooking and giving, cooking and giving, cooking and giving”, cross-stitch crochet, arts and crafts and fishing.  Lovingly called by many names – Mama, Mother Joseph, Mama Joseph, MoJo, Aunt Dorothy, Grannie and whatever name she was to you.

She gave because God gave to her.  So when you think of her, don’t cry but smile and say Lord I would love to have a gift like hers – the gift of hospitality.

She leaves the memories of love: Maureen Joseph (Kokomo, IN), Starla (Pastor Dale) Draper (Lafayette, IN), Angela (Andre) Washington (Kokomo, IN), Charlotte (Elder Dennis) Sanders (Kokomo, IN), Brenetta (Elder Kevin) Humphries (Marietta, GA), Vicki (Pastor Marvin) Brown (Indianapolis, IN), Delano Joseph (St. Vincent and the Grenadines), and Phillip (Pat) Boyea (Kokomo, IN).

Three living sisters: Alice Jean Washington (Kokomo, IN), Charlotte Corbet (Fishers, IN), Louis James (Conyers, GA). One adopted daughter: Delois Burts (Evanston, IL). Also, a young lady who was very special to her: Karen Scott. 14 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She has many special children. If you feel like it’s you just say, “I am one of hers.”

Mother Joseph was preceded in death by her mother and father: Elder Lewis and Mother Betty Hall; her husband: Brenon A. Joseph; four brothers: Pastor James Hall, Bishop Milton L. Hall Sr., Pastor Cleophus Hall Sr., and Pastor John Hall; four sisters: Francis May Hall, Helen Joyce Hall, Betty Oliver Hall, and Miriam Wilson.
