Ed Scott, 48, Roann, passed away on Friday morning, October 9, 2009 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Tippecanoe County, Indiana.
On August 20, 1961 in Fort Defiance, Arizona, on the Navajo Reservation, he was born to Tachii'nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan) for Noodaai' (Ute Clan). He was the son of Eddie R. Scott who survives in Kinlichee, AZ and Irene Holland, who survives in Rabbit Brush, AZ. On March 31, 1995 he was married to Cari Brooks of Sheridan, Indiana, and she survives.
He was a Navajo Native American and was raised in Rabbit Brush, Arizona. He attended Fort Defiance Mission School and graduated from Many Farms Bureau of Indian Affairs. While on the Reservation, he worked at the sawmill in Navajo, New Mexico and handled maintenance and custodial duties at Navajo Elementary. He was currently employed at Caterpillar Logistic Services in Lafayette. He was a traditional grass dancer in several Native American Pow Wows and shared this passion with his children. He enjoyed beadwork, woodworking, and spending leisure time with his family.
He was a licensed referee and officiated many basketball games in the area. He was an avid North Miami High School Basketball and Football fan and hardly ever missed a game.
He was a devoted husband and father. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Cari Scott, two sons, Elliott and Canaan Scott, and his parents, he leaves behind three brothers, Edd Scott, Raymond Scott,Sr., and Curby Scott; four sisters, Mary Notah, Ella R. Dawes, Ida Torrez, and Katie Joe; his father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Cheryl Brooks, Sheridan; and sister-in-law, Letha Scolley and husband Ed, Sheridan. He was loved by many and will be missed by all.
Two brothers, Andy Scott and Irvin Scott, preceded in death.
Friends and family are invited to gather at the Church of the Good Shepard from 9 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Services will begin at noon with Fr. Richard Valantasis officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Scott Family Burial Site. Pallbearers serving will be Wayne Brooks, Ed Scolley, Bryan Walker, Erwin Joe, Pete Cleveland, and Jefferson Joe Sr.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Scott Family Memorial Fund at any First Farmer's Bank and Trust location.
