Emma Lee Staller

Emma Lee Staller, 91, rural Twelve Mile, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 13, 2014, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport.

Born July 16, 1923 in Adams Township, Cass County, Indiana, she was the daughter of William C. and Martha Krider Wray.  On December 22, 1946, in Twelve Mile, Indiana, she was married to Merrill W. Staller, and he preceded her in death on May 9, 1991.

She was an active member of Corinth Brethren Church near Twelve Mile, Indiana, serving as a Sunday School teacher and with the Women’s Missionary Society.  For fifty-eight years, she served as Church Clerk and was the Church Historian at the time of her death.

In 1946, she began her teaching career at Coesse School near Columbia City.  She then went to work at Noble Township School in Cass County and later retired as an English teacher at Pioneer High School in Royal Center.  She was a member of the Cass County Retired Teachers’ Association and was a recipient of the Cass County Good Neighbor Award.

Survivors include four children, Ray E. Staller and wife Cyrena, Logansport; Ross E Staller and wife Carlene, South Whitley; George L. Staller and wife Betty, Peru; and Nila J. Staller, Oshkosh, Wisconsin; eight grandchildren, Ben Staller and wife Jocelyn, San Diego, California; Macy Augustus and husband Brent, South Whitley; Natalie Warner and husband Chad, Roanoke; Vanessa Hart and husband Ryan, Ft. Wayne; Whitley Frye and husband Brent, Huntington; India Isbell and husband Joe, Houston, Texas; Tai Walsh and husband Eric, Fulton; and Cara Alalade and husband Chris, Chattanooga, Tennessee; and fifteen great-grandchildren; one sister, Marilou Smith, Lafayette; two sisters-in-law, Phyllis Wray, Twelve Mile and Lois Hann, Peru; and brother-in-law, Harold Staller and wife Janet, Peru.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, W. Clifford Wray and two brothers-in-law, Richard Smith and Bill Hann.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2014 at Corinth Brethren Church with Pastor Ben Pippen officiating.  Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery, Twelve Mile.

Visitation will be from 1-7:00 p.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2014 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Corinth Brethren Church or Gideons International.
