Ernest Wayne Depoy

Ernest Wayne DePoy, 74, Denver passed away Easter morning at his residence.

Born July 31, 1939 in Fulton County, Indiana, he was the son of Ernest D. DePoy and Florence Ethel Winegardner DePoy Barnes.  On October 4, 1959 at the Denver Baptist Church, he married Carol Sue “Susie” Winningham, and she survives.

Wayne was a United States Marine Veteran serving from 1957 until 1959.  He worked for Peru Utilites for thirty-six years, and retired as a line superintendent in 1999.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his three children, Teresa M. Kunkle and husband Owen, Plainfield; David W. DePoy and wife, Michelle, Deedsville; and Diana L. Vigar and husband Rod, Gilead; eight grandchildren, Kameron Donaldson, Peru; Levi Donaldson, Vancouver, Washington; Karly Donaldson, Plainfield; Joshua DePoy, Kokomo; Whitney Crum, Bennetts Switch; Lauren Vigar, Gilead; Lydia Vigar, Gilead; eight great-grandchildren; his siblings, Marilyn Saylor, Peru; Joe DePoy, Peru; and half-sister, Brenda Stolls, Sharpsville; and two half-brothers, Howard and Mark DePoy, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest DePoy and Florence E. Barnes, one great-granddaughter, Chlore L. Donaldson, and two brothers, Elmer and Larry DePoy and one sister, Bonnie Myers.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday with Chaplain Joel Flowers officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.

Visitation will be held from 4-8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
