Ethel A. Spitznagle, 85, Peru, passed away at 5:05 a.m. on Saturday, February 28, 2009 at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
Born September 12, 1923 in Michigamme, Michigan, she was the daughter of Albert Harry and Jennie A. Guidebeck Pearson.
On June 5, 1946 at St. Charles Borromeo in Peru, she was married to Victor Jacob Spitznagle, and he preceded her in death on November 20, 2004.
Ethel was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Peru, Indiana where was a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Alter and Rosary Society. She was retired from Grissom Air Force Base and had previously worked as an operator for Indiana Bell. She was an avid supporter of animal rights.
She is survived by one son, William Spitznagle and wife Nancy, Peru; one daughter, Vicki Little and husband Lew, Peru; seven grandchildren, P.J. Little and wife Cassie, Seattle, Washington; Zach Little, Seattle, Washington, Luke Little, Peru; Gerri-Ann Braley and her husband Chris, Jaclyn Spitznagle, William (Pete) Spitznagle, and Walter Spitznagle, one great-grandson, Isaac Braley, all of Peru; one sister-in-law, Margaret (Marge) Harrison, Kokomo; and her beloved dog, Annie.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Edith Rachel Winn.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:00 (noon) on Wednesday, March 4, 2009 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church with Reverend Father Francis I. Kilcline officiating. She will be laid to rest in St. Charles Cemetery.
Friends are invited to call from 4-7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, where a scripture service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Friends may also call one hour prior to the services on Wednesday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Vincent de Paul Society.
