Flossie Virginia Cover

Flossie Virginia Smith Cover, 89, formerly of Denver and Peru, Indiana went to be with her heavenly father at 1:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at North Woods Village in Kokomo, Indiana.

Born September 18, 1922 in Putman County, Tennessee she was the daughter of Ernest Newton and Josephine Crook Smith. She was married to Donald E. Cover, and he preceded her in death.

She was baptized at Emmanuel Church of God in Tennessee. Flossie's passions were fishing, Yatzee, playing cards, bingo, and mushroom hunting. More than anything, she loved cooking and hosting family dinners. Her peach cobbler was out of this world. She enjoyed her life to the fullest!

She is survived by her children, Geda (Gailon) Garling, Twelve Mile; Ernest Leon (Kathy) Jones, Baxter, Tennessee; Jerry Lee (Jonetta) Jones, Monticello; step daughter, Kathy (Bill) Strahlem, Logansport; several grandchildren including Leon Jones, whom she raised, along with Tana (Smith) Sons, Raymie Smith, Donnie Smith, Jerry lee Jones, Jeffry Jones, Shawn Jones, and step granddaughter Kim (Caine) Allen; several great and great great grandchildren; her surviving siblings, Herman Bud (Virginia) Smith, Columbia City, Ernest (Velma) Smith, Cooeville, TN; Aaron Smith, Peru; and Mary Sue Goodman, Peru.

She was preceded in death by twin sisters, Aleen and Cleo Smith, Benjamen Smith, Dorothy Thorpe, step daughter Donna (Cover) Blizzard, and grandson Bryan Jones.

Funeral services will be held 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver with Father Richard Lightsey officiating. Burial will be in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.

Visitation will be held from 4-6:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
