Frank James Pegg, 87, Mexico, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne.
Born December 19, 1927 in Miami County, Indiana, he was the son of Frank H. and Lois M. Pegg. He was married to Ruth I. Longstreth, and she preceded him in death in 2006.
Frank was an active member of his community where he served as Past Chief of the Mexico Fire Department. He was a member of New Life United Methodist Church as well as many other organizations: Peru Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Odd Fellows Lodge, Peru Maennerchor, Peru Moose, and Peru Elks. He was a United States Navy Veteran having served on the USS Colonial. He retired from the C & O Railroad where he held various jobs, including being the union representative for many years.
Survivors include three children, Darryl Pegg and wife Lora, Mexico; Denise Alberts and husband Michael, Peru; and Darren “Bud” Pegg, Bunker Hill; five grandchildren, Adam Pegg, Amber Metcalfe, Derek Pegg, Brandon Alberts, and Racheal Pegg; and two great-grandchildren, Leighton Metcalfe, and Braxton Alberts.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra E. Pegg, his siblings, Leonard, Roy, and Robert Pegg, and sisters, Wanda Butzin, Betty Gooch, and Mildred Helton.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, 2015 at New Life United Methodist Church, Mexico, Indiana with Pastor Sam Polito officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m. on Monday at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, where there will be a Masonic service at 7:00 p.m.
