Freeman Jake Townsend, Sr., 72, Denver, passed away on Thursday morning, November 16, 2017, at his residence.
Born July 24, 1945, in Lombard, Kentucky, he was the son of Troy and Ila Mae Starnes Townsend. He was married to the former Jane Manning, and she survives.
He retired from Amtrol in Peru, Indiana. Over the years, he enjoyed hunting raccoons, squirrels, and rabbits, fishing, lawn mower repair, and spending time with friends and family.
He is also survived by his two children, Teresa Jane Shilling and husband Jeff, Chili; and son, Freeman Jake Townsend, Jr. and companion Tracy Worden, Denver; two grandchildren, Racheal Pegg and Austin Watts, both of Chili; two brothers, Bill (Judy) Townsend, Peru; and Shelby (Mary Ellen) Townsend, Peru; one sister, Nancy (Will) Pennie, Mexico; sister-in-law, Mrs. Thomas (Beulah) Townsend, Missouri; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Thomas Townsend.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 21, 2017, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru.
Visitation will be from 5-8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 20, 2017, and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the funeral home.
