George E. Shultz

March 16, 1953 — September 13, 2011

George E. Shultz, 58, rural Macy was welcomed into the arms of his heavenly father at 11:22 a.m. on Tuesday, September 13, 2011 in Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

Born March 16, 1953 in Peru, Indiana he was the son of the late Eldon "George" and Mona Kotterman Shultz. On February 14, 1976 at Parkview United Methodist Church in Peru, he was married to his high school sweetheart, Linda Wilhelm.

George was a 1971 graduate of North Miami High School. He was a timber cutter all his life. George had a passion for the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. George loved a good joke and always had a smile and a hardy handshake for anyone he met. George and Linda liked to live on the wild side and take to the road on their Honda Goldwing. He could fix small engines, chain saws, and liked to load his own gun shells.

George was a family man and truly loved every minute he spent with his grandchildren. His favorite saying was he liked them best when they went home.

George was a faithful member of the Mexico First Brethren Church where he served as an usher and a past trustee. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.

In addition to his wife, he leaves behind two children, a daughter, Lori Norman (Wes), of Macy; and a son, Jared Shultz (Jolene) LaFontaine; six grandchildren, Alec, Layne, and Jessa Riendeau, Laython Norman, and Aspen and J.D. Shultz; one sister, Linda Smith, North Webster; two nieces, Shelly Vanover, North Webster; and Trina Slack (John), Florida; and one nephew Dalton Griffith (Dawn), Big Barbee Lake.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Karen Lopez.
