Gilford E. Miller, Sr., 76, Macy, passed away at 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
Born October 9, 1942, in Miami County, Indiana, he was the son of Emerson Ray and Bessie Irene (Wheeler) Miller. On April 24, 1964, at the Church of the Nazarene in Peru, Indiana, he was married to the former Johnnie L. Rains, and she survives.
Gilford had attended Peru High School, and he retired from Bryan Steam after thirty-eight years. He was also a farmer and enjoyed chainsaw and saw-blade sharpening and going to fish fries.
He is survived by his wife Johnnie L. Miller, Macy; two children, Lowella (Tom) Wasson, O’Fallon, Mo., and Gilford E. Miller, Jr., Macy and his companion Andrea Vallo; six grandchildren, Justin (Stephany) Sherman, Wisconsin; Megan Sherman, Maryland; Nicholas Sherman, Macy; Alicia Miller, Fulton County; Gregg (Megan) Miller, Macy; and Garrett Miller, Kentucky; four great-grandchildren, Abraham Sherman, Gunner Miller, and Grayson and Paisley Miller; one brother Gerry (Loretta) Miller, Wabash, and one sister, Lavina Stout, Peru.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Garl, Glenn, and George Miller, sisters Mary Jane Stephens, and Betty Weaver, and two half sisters, Daisy Smith and Wanetta Sigler.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 5, 2018, McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Kevin Palmer officiating. Burial will be in Deedsville IOOF Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be from 10-11:00 a.m. on Monday at the funeral home.
