Gwendolyn “Gwen” Roberta Maus, 90, a resident of Blair Ridge and formerly of Denver, Indiana, passed away at 9:38 p.m. on Friday, February 6, 2015 at Blair Ridge Health Campus, Peru.
Born March 1, 1924 in Denver, Indiana, she was the daughter of Dwight L. and May L. Leedy Shoemaker. On June 5, 1976, at the home of Rev. George Hapner, in Fulton, Indiana, she was married to Herschel L. Maus, and he preceded her in death on August 3, 2008.
Gwen was a graduate of Jefferson Township High School. She was a member of the Deedsville United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star where she had been Worthy Matron at the Mexico Chapter. She retired from Square D Corporation, Peru.
Survivors include a step-son, Steven A. Maus and his wife Linda, Russiaville; a step-daughter, Beverly West and her husband Chris, Missouri; and one step-grandson, Justin Maus and his wife Tarah, Kokomo; two step great-grandchildren, Ethan and Emmaleigh Maus, Kokomo; one sister, Connie Hunt, Peru; one sister-in-law, Joan Shoemaker, Denver; one brother-in-law, Raymond Steele, Wabash; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Malcolm Shoemaker, a sister, Marcia Steele, and one step-grandson, Andy Maus; and one brother-in-law, Doyal Hunt.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.
Visitation will be from one hour prior to the service on Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Deedsville United Methodist Church.
