Harold Ray Houser

November 15, 1929 — September 30, 2017

Harold Ray Houser, age 87 of Peru, died Sept. 30, 2017 at Blair Ridge Health Complex following a recent cancer diagnosis. He was born November 15, 1929 in Peru, Indiana to Delmer and Doris Houser. He shared his childhood with one sister, Wilma (Miller). After graduating from Peru High School in 1947, he attended a trade school in St. Louis, Missouri, learning the craft of tool and die making.

On October 1, 1952 he married Mary Lynn Wilson. Their marriage spanned 67 years.

He was employed at various factories in Peru, Wabash, and Kokomo, until beginning a career at Delco Electronics in Kokomo that lasted more than 30 years. He was an avid clock and watch repairman, collecting and repairing many antique clocks and watches for himself, family, and friends. He and his wife enjoyed traveling the world, including to many developing countries. He volunteered for many years at the Miami County Museum and the Salvation Army.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Mary Lynn, children, Teresa from Rochester, IN, Elaine (Stone) from Medina, Ohio, and David from Etna Green, IN. Grandchildren include Jesse, Jana (Sandbulte), Jerri-Ann, and Joni Houser, and Laura and Matthew Stone. Five great grandchildren add to the list.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday Oct. 7 at Peru Church of the Brethren, 134 E. 5th St. in Peru. Visitation at the church begins at 10:00 am, and a service will be held at 11:00 am with a meal to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Miami County Community Foundation, 13 E. Main St. Peru, IN 46975.
