Hazel M. Coahran, 83, Macy, passed away on Thursday morning, September 16, 2010 at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Born September 30, 1926 in Kosciusko County, Indiana the daughter of James and Elizabeth Meyers Hamilton. On Dec. 24, 1946, in Peru, she was married to Clair Coahran, and he preceded her in death on February 13, 2005.
Hazel was a member of the Macy Christian Church where she had taught Sunday school for several years. She retired from the Macy Post Office in 1990 after twenty years of carrying the Rural Route 2 mail. She had also driven a school bus for North Miami for many years. She was known to those her loved her as the best noodle maker in the world.
She was an active member of her community and along with her husband, Clair, she served as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for North Miami County Emergency Medical Service. She was a founding member of the Macy Firefighters Auxillary, had been Vice-President of the Macy Town Board, helped with Weekday Religious Education in Logansport, and she was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include three daughters, Judy Burkhardt and husband Steve, Paula See and husband Rich, all of Denver, and Pat Tharp, Westfield; two sons, Bill Coahran and wife Shirley, Macy and Tom Coahran and wife Shar, Rochester; seven grandchildren, Blaine and Kylie Burkhardt, Shannon and Jeff Conley, Barbie Snodgrass and husband Rob, Julie Simons and husband Alan, and Angela Myers and husband Derrik; eight great-grandchildren, Jimmy, Stevie, Chase and Jade Conley, Carley Fox, and Griffin, Tate and Easton Snodgrass. She was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Samantha Conley; five sisters, Annie Gagnon, Isabelle Clemons, Ivy Taylor, Violet Gagnon, and Ruth Shafer; and two brothers, Russell Hamilton and Don Hamilton.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, September 20, 2010 at Macy Christian Church with Preacher Dave Welsh officiating. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery, Macy.
Visitation will be from 2-7:00 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
