Helen Tyler

July 13, 1925 — February 14, 2015

Helen E. Tyler, 89, Peru, Indiana, went home to be with the Lord at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2015, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

Born July 13, 1925, in Akron, Indiana, she was the daughter of Ben and Maranda Sopher Glassburn.    On August 30, 1947, in Miami County, Indiana, she was married to John H. Tyler, Sr., and he preceded her in death on January 14, 1980.

Helen was a member of the First Assembly of God.  She loved crossword puzzles, word searches, and volunteering at the Salvation Army.

Survivors include her children, Bill Tyler, Sharon Tyler, Sandy Tyler and companion Dwayne Jones, and Debra Wheetley and her husband Kenny, all of Peru; one step-son, John Melvin Tyler, Hilmar, California; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchild.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by numerous brothers and sisters; one son, John H. “John Boy” Tyler, Jr.; and one granddaughter, Stephanie Sons.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 18, 2015, at First Assembly of God, Peru, Indiana with Pastor E. J. Litherland and Chaplain Virgil Barker officiating.  Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the church.
