Hugh C. Young, 92, Northport, Florida, passed away at Sarasota Memorial Hospital in Sarasota, Florida.

Born September 19, 1919 in Twelve Mile, Indiana he was the son of Glen O. and Reba A. Buck Young. On December 12, 1942 in New York, he was married to Berniece V. Musselman, and she preceded in death on October 10, 2003.

Hugh was a childhood member of Bethlehem United Methodist Church near Twelve Mile, and he was a lifelong Methodist. He was a currently Port Charlotte United Methodist Church and former member of Beech Grove United Methodist. After graduating from Twelve Mile High School, he attended Purdue University where he studied Physical Education and Health. He then enlisted with the United States Navy and served in Hawaii.

Hugh was a teacher and basketball coach at Lapaz High School and Beech Grove Junior High and High School. During his term as basketball coach at Lapaz, he led four teams to sectional championships.

Survivors include three children, Glenn F. Young and wife Cindy, St. Louis, Missouri; Nila J. Dailey, Zionsville; and Sue Baxter and husband Les; Valparaiso; nine grandchildren and several great and great-great grandchildren; one brother, Charles A. Young, Indianapolis; one sister-in-law, Dorothy Grismore, Muncie; and one brother-in-law, Paul Chester, Denver.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Acel and Arthur Young; and one son-in-law, Jim Dailey.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver with Pastor Teri White officiating. Burial will follow in Chili Cemetery, Chili.

Visitation will be from 9-11:00 a.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.
