Jean M. (Lockie) Underwood

Jean M. Underwood, 80, Denver, Indiana, passed away at 9:19 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Community Heart and Vascular Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born April 14, 1943, in Floyd, Iowa, she was the daughter of Robert and Nellie (Shorey) Lockie.  On August 20, 1977, in Orchard, Iowa, she was married to Dennis David Underwood, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 2009.

Jean was a member of New Life United Methodist Church, Mexico, Indiana where she was part of the United Methodist Women, and the Mexico Lions Club.

Survivors include three children, Linda (Jeff) McIntire, Rockford, Iowa; Terry Bryant, Clear Lake, Iowa; and Jennifer (Kent) Ireland, Denver; seven grandchildren, Allyn McIntire, Candace (Brandon) Williams, Korydon (Nikki) McIntire, Taylor (Bethny) Bryant, Hunter Bryant, Seth Ireland, and Isaac Ireland; great-grandchildren, Shayne Groesbeck, Emily McIntire, Abby Groesbeck, Emily McIntire, Hailey McIntire, Dru Williams, Natalie McIntire, Karter McIntire, and Blake McIntire; one brother, Delbert (Judy) Lockie; and one sister, Sandra Burd.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson, Keelan McIntire; daughter-in-law, Stacey Bryant; and siblings, Shirley Decker, Maxine Ebel, and Robert Lockie.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Mandie Gould officiating.  Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service on Saturday, at the funeral home.
