John Basil Goodnight, Jr., 52, of Peru passed away at 11:44 a.m. on Friday, January 16, 2009 at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
Born October 20, 1956 in Tipton, Indiana he was the son of John Goodnight, Sr. and Irma J. Goodnight. On October 24, 1998 he was married to June Ellen Jameson at the Peru Knights of Columbus, and she survives.
He worked at Kokomo Gravel, Peru, and he enjoyed collecting Jeff Gordon Nascar memorabilia. He was a United States Army Veteran.
Other survivors include his father and step-mother, John Goodnight, Sr. and his wife Jerri, Peru; one daughter, Shauna Goodnight; three stepchildren, Troy Truax, Peru; Toni Truax, Peru; and Todd Truax and his wife Julie, Peru; eleven step grandchildren, and seven step great grandchildren; one sister, Becky (Terry) Phillips of Windfall and their childen, Therea and Valerie; one brother, Lloyd (Evelyn) Goodnight, Troy, Ohio; a stepbrother, James Harley Sparks, Jr., Peru; and aunts and uncles, Joe and Anita Albarado, Peru and George and Kathy Walker, LaFountain.
His mother and stepfather, Irma and James Harley Sparks, one stepsister, Karen Johnson, and one stepbrother, Kenneth Sparks preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver with Pastor Bill Sheets officiating.
Friends are invited to call from noon until the time of services Wednesday.
