John Basil Goodnight, Sr., 82, Peru, passed away at 9:45 p.m. on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at Hickory Creek Nursing Home, Peru.
Born January 13, 1936, in Tipton County, Indiana, he was the son of Bernard and Nelie Baden Goodnight. He was married on October 24, 1985, in Peru, Indiana, to the former Geraldine L. Marrison See, and she survives.
He was a member of Zion Chapel in Peru, Indiana and had retired from Square D Corporation in Peru. He loved hunting, camping, horses, Western Movies, and spending time with his family, especially his many grandchildren. He had also served with the Indiana National Guard.
Survivors include his wife Geraldine L. Goodnight, Peru; four children, Rebecca L. Phillips, Windfall; Dennis A. Goodnight, Casstown, OH; David A. Goodnight, Missouri; and Tammy S. Goodnight, Missouri; seven step-children, Susan D. (George) Clark, Peru; Michael J. See, Utah; Patricia (Mark) Cooper, Peru; Lori (Tom) Correll, Peru; Timothy S. See, Utah; Diana M. Brewer, Peru; and Robert C. (Debra) See, Peru; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; two brothers, Paul Goodnight, Illinois and Amos Goodnight, Indianapolis; two sisters, Marilian Keith, Indianapolis, and Zonda Swift, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by two sons, John Basil Goodnight, Jr. and Lloyd K. Goodnight; step-son, David A. See.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, January 14, 2019, at Zion Chapel Church, Peru, with Pastor Rod Correll officiating. Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County.
Visitation will be from noon until the time of service on Monday at the church.
