Karen A. Cadwallader, 82, Mexico, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, July 4, 2024, at Community Howard Regional Medical Center, Kokomo, with her loving family at her side.

Born December 21, 1941, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Orlie and Florence (Kurz) Correll. On September 24, 1983, she married Charles F. “Chuck” Cadwallader, and he preceded her in death on February 15, 1994.

Karen was a lifelong resident of Miami County and was a member of the New Life Church in Mexico. She was a member of the Miami County Home Economics Club, and a fifty-plus year member of the Moose Lodge. Karen served the public for many years while working at Walgreens, The Dukes Hospital Auxillary, and the polls on Election Day. 

She was fearless when traveling the world, never shying away from an adventure . She included her family by sharing stories, souvenirs, and pictures of her travels. At age seventy, Karen Shocked her family with a new passion, her motorcycle. She loved the wind in her face as she rode. Karen was an avid bowler for over sixty years, traveling to tournaments all over the country where she formed many life-long friendships. 

Karen was the loving mother of Penny Hall, Peru; Patricia Coffman, Mexico; Wayne (Joni) Smith, Peru; and was preceded in death by her daughter Shelly Teel. She was the beloved grandmother to thirteen and great-grandmother to seventeen.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Shelly; and brothers, Miachael & Carl.

Karen was a great example of someone who lived life to the fullest, never missing an opportunity to open her heart or home to others. Her life was filled with many adventures, but more than anything—it was filled with love, and she will be missed terribly. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Chad Chamness officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday, at the funeral home.
