Kurt Allen Wernz, 62, rural Peru, passed away at 5:21 a.m. on Thursday, February 15, 2018, at St. Vincent Hospital, Kokomo.
Born October 20, 1955, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Glenn H. Schlemmer, Jr. and the former Donna A. Pavey.
Kurt enjoyed spending his time painting cars, motorcycles, and sprint car racing with GRP-Gamester Racing.
Survivors include his five children, Kurt A. Wernz, Jr., Kokomo; Kristopher A. (Brandi) Wernz; Peru; Brandy D. (Eric) Cody, Claypool; Taylor D. (Bryce) Kelley, Tippecanoe; and Kameron Wernz, Peru; two sisters, Kathy A. (Bob) Sunday, Denver; and Kandy B. (Kendel) Hattery, Peru; longtime companion, Cheryl Kline, Peru, and her daughter Chelsea (Greg) Smith, Chili; and ten grandchildren, Parker, Baileigh, Lennox, Presley, Kooperlyn, Kashlyn, Krew, Charlotte, Haley, and Brianne.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn H. Schlemmer, Jr., and Stephen E. and Donna A. Wernz.
A time of visitation with the family will be held from 2-7:00 p.m. on Monday, February 19, 2018, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver. Private burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Peru.
