Laura Kantzer

Laura Kantzer, 100, Twelve Mile, passed away Saturday, November 27, 2010 at the home of her son Sherman, rural Logansport. Born in Adams Township, Cass County on November 18, 1010, she was the daughter of Grover C. and Ruth C. Sullivan Moss. On January 13, 1928 in Tipton, Indiana she was married to Ross H. "Pappy" Kantzer, and he preceded her in death on March 24, 1983. Laura was a lifelong resident of Twelve Mile. She worked in the Mexico Ordinance Plant during World War II. She also worked in the cafeteria at Twelve Mile High School and later retired from Caston School Corporation as a matron. She loved to travel and visited every state in the union as well as Sweden, Finland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Egypt, Israel, France, and Canada. She is survived by three children, Rex Kantzer and wife Rose; Valerie Higgs; and Sherman Kantzer and wife Gretchen, all of Logansport; one sister, Elsie Spangler, Fulton; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Deane Kantzer; one granddaughter, Suzie Jones; and two brothers, Byron Wilson Moss and Donald Deane Moss. Funeral services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver with Pastor George Hapner officiating. Burial will follow in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County. Visitation will be from 1:30-2:30 on Tuesday before the service at the funeral home.
