Louise Murphy, 97, Peru, Indiana, and formerly of rural Denver, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2016, at Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
L. Louise Murphy was born in southern Miami County, Indiana, on July 27, 1918, on her grandparents’ farm.
She graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1936, and on March 12, 1939, she was married to Raymond M. Murphy by the late Rev. C.F. Golden. They were blessed to be married for 73 years.
Louise had worked at J.C. Penney Co. and the North Miami Community School Corporation. She was a member of the Chili Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School secretary for many years. She had recently attended the Peru First Baptist Church, where she was a member of the Resurrection Sunday School Class.
She is survived by a son, Richard R. Murphy and his wife Janice, Denver; daughter, Nancy Masten and her husband Robert, Peru; grandchildren, Anthony Murphy, Michelle Murphy, Robert Masten, Jr., Kerwin Masten, and Mary Day; seven great-grandchildren, London Murphy, Alexandra Masten, Robert Oakley Masten, Corey Masten, Jordan Masten, Adler Tuttle, and Katherine Day; sister-in-law, Loraine Moore and her husband, Jean; and many nieces and nephews.
Louise was preceded in death by her mother, Ida Ruth Fenn See, her stepfather, Grover See, her husband Raymond Murphy, three sisters, Wilma Donat, Mable Crim and Ruth Elizabeth (Bette) Kinley, and two brothers, Gaylord See and James Grover See.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.on Sunday, April 17, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Tim Earle and Pastor Robert Adelsperger officiating. Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver.
Visitation will be from 3-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 16, 2016 and one hour prior to the service on Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Chili United Methodist Church or Westlawn Cemetery Association.
