Maribeth Faherty Mooney, 72, Bloomington, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, August 1, 2017, at Legacy at Waterford Place, Kokomo, Ind., surrounded by her children.
Born December 17, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, she was the daughter of Roger and Lavergne Jacobs Faherty.
She was a faithful member of the Roman Catholic Church. She worked as program director at the Indiana Institute on Disability and Community at Indiana University, the Helen Keller National Center and Self Advocates of Indiana.
Survivors include her son, Matt (Laura) Mooney of Memphis, Tenn.; son, Mark (Cissy) Mooney and their children, Jack and Annie Mooney of Geneva, Illinois; daughter, Marni (John) Meunier of Mexico, Ind.; daughter, Meghan (Dustin) Parys of Cincinnati; and sister, Holly (Jim) Foster of Bloomington, Ind., and their children, Michael and Alicia Foster. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Maribeth raised her four children and was passionately committed to helping them succeed. When she talked about raising her children, she said she “loved every minute of it.” She was an advocate for those with disabilities, and she loved her dogs.
A private committal service will be held at All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Ill.
