Marilyn Jean Moon, 88, Logansport, passed away at 11:45 a.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, at her daughter’s residence, near Frankfort.
Born September 7, 1927, in Logansport, Indiana, she was the daughter of Matthew A. and Mary M. Schmidt Spencer. On August 12, 1945, she was married to Verlin A. Moon, and he preceded her in death on January 25, 2013.
Since 1939, she was a member of Corinth Brethren Church, near Twelve Mile, where she had served as Children’s Sunday School Superintendent and taught an adult Sunday school class. She graduated from Twelve Mile High School and later retired from Switches, Inc., in Logansport. She had also worked in various nursing homes for over seventeen years.
Marilyn was the devoted and loving mother of three children, Pamela Hines, Royal Center, John (Carolyn) Moon, Peru, and Nancy (Phillip) Carter, Frankfort, Indiana. She also shared her love with 11 grandchildren, John Hines, Timothy Hines, Aaron Hines, Brian, Brad, and Brent Moon, Drew Carter, D.J. Carter, Debra Carlson, Dennis Hines, and Teresa Small; eight great-grandsons, three great-granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Miller, and one brother, Thomas Spencer.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2015, at Corinth Brethren Brethren Church, Twelve Mile, with Pastor Ben Pippen officiating. Burial will follow in Corinth Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 2-6:00 p.m. on Sunday, at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, Marilyn requested memorial contributions be directed to the National Kidney Foundation, Relay for Life (American Cancer Society), or the donor’s favorite charity.
