Martha Christine Love, 89, a lifelong resident of Miami County, passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024, at Stillwater Hospice, Ft. Wayne.
Born August 24, 1935, in Peru, Indiana, she was one of the fourteen children of Carroll and Fern (Tull) Weideman. On October 15, 1955, she was married to James Glen Love, and he preceded her in death on February 10, 1999.
Martha grew up in Peru, Indiana, and graduated from Peru High School. After marrying her husband, she moved to the North Miami Community, where she raised her family in the Chili Community. Martha had worked at Redmon Basket Factory, CR Metals, and Wesbar, all in Peru. Almost always with a smile on her face, nothing could brighten that further than watching sports, football and basketball were her favorite, but watching Larry Bird play basketball (He deserved the championship more than Magic!!) and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, were her favorite activities in life. Martha loved to read, but she also loved to tell stories, reminiscing about the past. Whether it was about family, friends, school, or anything, conversation was always an active part of her life. Martha also enjoyed the simple pleasures of life, sometimes sitting with her dog, Pacer, playing cards, or a hot cup of coffee were all she needed to make her happy!
Survivors include her son, Troy (Staci) Love, Logansport; grandchildren, Jennings (Jessica) Crippen, Denver; April (Zachary) Gosnell, Denver; and Christena (Brad) Hampton, Roann and Aiden Love, Logansport; and great-grandchildren, Ross and Bryce Gosnell, Layla, Braylon, and Willow Hampton, and Waylynn, Kaylee, and Andi Crippen. She is also survived by brothers and sisters-in-law, Marthagene Weideman, Kay Weideman, Rosalie Weideman, Larry Brower, William Landon Love, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Patricia Darlene Crippen and her husband, Kim; and siblings, Robert Weideman, June Hight, Warren Weideman, Harry Weideman, Ralph Weideman, Clara Miller, Alice Long, Anna Belle Heltsley, Primrose Weideman, Jane Frye, Jack Weideman, William Weideman, and Esther Hodson.
