Mary Ruth (Spangler) Hensley

Mary Ruth Hensley, 78, formerly of Chili, Indiana, passed away at 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2021, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru.

Born July 18, 1942, in Coxton, Kentucky, she was the daughter of Charles and Pearl (Buckles) Spangler.  On June 8, 1959, she was married to Richard Hensley, Sr., and he preceded her in death on June 15, 2010.

Mary Ruth loved her family, especially her grandbabies and great-grandbabies.  She enjoyed a good laugh, jokes and pulling pranks on people, loved playing cards and bingo and spending time with her family.  In the late 50's and early 60's, Mary worked at Zenith in Chicago before moving to Chili in 1973 where she worked as an at home mother, grandmother and great grandmother and care giver for her both of her parents.  Mary was a member of the Chili Baptist Church.  She was loved greatly by her family and friends, who will miss her greatly, especially her laughter and her sense of humor.

Survivors include her daughter, Pammie Pearl Hensley, Chili; grandchildren, Dakota Braun (Nikki Herrell), Peru, and Chelsea Coleman, Bunker Hill; great-grandchildren, Saria Harper Braun, Bunker Hill, and Nora Belle Coleman, Bunker Hill; siblings, Shirley Lively, Melbourne, FL: Paul Spangler, Lower Lake, CA; and Mel Spangler, Lower Lake, CA; and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Richard Hensley, Jr.; daughter, Peggy Lynn Hensley; and siblings, Chet Spangler, Carl Spangler, Charles Spangler, Clara Johnson, Carol Galouzis, Earl Spangler, Ruby Browning, Don Spangler, and Opal Childs.
