Melody Dawn (Lesley) Shumpert, 58, Denver, passed away on Thursday, June 17, 2021, at her residence.
Born November 8, 1963, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Walter Edward and Hazel Jean (Barsoda) Lesley. On October 27, 2009, in Columbus, Ohio, she was married to Donald Ray Shumpert, and he preceded her in death on November 6, 2018.
She was a graduate of North Miami High School and was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She was active in the 4-H program and belonged to several different Home-Ec clubs in addition to volunteering with many community service programs. She always grew a garden and made sure that everyone was always fed.
Survivors include her five children, Tashina N. (Jeremy) McNabney, Wabash; Yanel F. (Larry) Rigle, Peru; Guanea N. (Dwayne) Talbert, Kokomo; Nemiah D. (Keon) Jones, Kokomo; and Aaron J. Doran (Madison Vance), Denver; thirteen grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Velvet (Bud) Shrock, Mexico; Trudy (Mark) Ferguson, Peru; one brother, Butch (Amy) Lesley, Macy; two step-children, Preston and Denzel Shumpert; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and other special children and people who found a loving place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands, James F. Doran and Donald Ray Shumpert.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, June 25, 2021, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.
Visitation will be held from 3-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
