Michael R Wright

Michael Ray “Lightning” Wright, 61, Denver, Indiana, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, April 3, 2016, while vacationing in Florida.

Born October 28, 1954, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of Max Marr “Mick” and Maxine Alice Richardson Wright.  On March 4, 1978 in Peru, Indiana, he was married to the former Rebecca S. Lester, and she survives.

Mike was a 1973 graduate of North Miami High School, and he was an Engineer for CSX Transportation in Lafayette, Indiana

Mike loved spending time outdoors, especially fishing, and he would travel to Minnesota each year to enjoy this favorite pastime.  Mike enjoyed sports and many other things, but more than anything, he loved spending time with his one and only, precious granddaughter, Palmer.  She had her grandpa, affectionately known to her as “Bagong,” wrapped around her little finger, and Mike loved driving “Palmer’s 2015 Ford Mustang GT.”

Surviving along with his wife are two children, Brian M. Wright and wife Leigh, Peru; Michelle L. Wright, Kokomo; one granddaughter, Palmer Wright, Peru; one sister, Susie Peters and husband Jerry; mother-in-law, Carolyn Lester, Peru; sister-in law, Becky Lytle and husband Dana, Denver; brother-in-law, Robbie Lester and wife Linda, Peru; as well as several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, David D. Wright; and one sister, Carol Jean Trexler; father-in-law, Charlie Lester; and brother-in-law, Gary Lester.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, April 11, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Steve Quinlan officiating.  Burial will follow in Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana.

Visitation will be from 2-8:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2016, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to Miami County Relay for Life-Team Lightning, Kokomo Humane Society, or Westlawn Cemetery.
