Jane Jones, 91, of Galveston, and formerly of Marion, passed away peacefully in her sleep at 7:26 p.m. Sunday, May 25, 2014 at Marion General Hospital, Marion, Indiana after a very brief illness.
Born February 24, 1923 in Hoover, Cass County, Indiana, she was the daughter of the late Fred and Dessa Toothman Lunsford.
She was a graduate of Twelve Mile High School.
During W.W.II, she worked for the Navy Department at the Peru Ordinance Plant from a week before production until its closure.
She married the love of her life, William "Bill" G. Jones, Jr. on January 16, 1946 after his return from two years in India. They were married fifty-six years and seven months upon the date of his death, August 21, 2002.
Form the fall of 1946 until the spring of 1949, she worked in the office of More Company, Muncie, Indiana as Mr. Jones finished his B.S. Degree at Ball State University.
Mrs. Jones lived in the communities of Hoover, Peru, Muncie, Twelve Mile, Metea, Sweetser, Galveston, Converse, and Marion in addition to spending thirteen winters in Clearwater, Florida.
She is survived by two sons, Steven Lee Jones and wife Marianne, Galveston, and Kim Allen Jones and wife Debbie, Marion. She was the grandmother of three, Eric Jones and wife Melissa, Kokomo; Cory Jones and wife Karen, Walton; and Heather Faulk and husband Joe, Noblesville. She was blessed with six great-grandchildren, Kyrstin Jones, Galveston; Emerson and Addison Jones, Walton; and Carson, Camden, and Alyssa Faulk, Noblesville.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Fred, Jr. and Hal, one grandchild, and one nephew, Dave Zartman.
Jane was a wonderful cook and, according to her family, no one made better noodles or lemon meringue pie. She was an avid reader, loved gardening, sewing, and history. She enjoyed watching tennis, the NBA, and the Colts, but above everything else, was her love for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2014 at McClain Funeral Home, Denver with services officiated by Pastor Tom Mansbarger from Grace Community Church, Marion. Burial will follow at the Corinth Cemetery, Twelve Mile.
Visitation will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
