Oden Lee Mcclain

Oden Lee McClain, 74, Schererville, passed away at 12:28 p.m. Monday, May 17, 2010 at his residence.
Born January 20, 1936 in Peru, Indiana he was the son of Tracy Earl and Keturah Elizabeth Cutshall McClain. On November 4, 1972 in Lansing, Illinois, he was married to Retha Jane Shawver, and she survives.
He was a 1954 graduate of Jefferson Township High School, Mexico, Indiana and served four years in the United States Air Force. He was a member of the VFW and the American Legion. In 2001 he retired from Howard Van Lines, where he had worked for many years. He was an avid Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan.
Surviving besides his wife are nine children, Cynthia McClain; Robert McClain, Whiting; Michael E. Chandler, Portage; Veronica "Vicki" L. McClain, Hammond; Jeffrey G. Chandler, China Springs, Texas; Crystal A. Kleckner, Chenoa, Illinois; Regina McClain, Peru; Tammy L. Meyers, Lake Station, Indiana; Tracy L. Gore, St. John, Indiana; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Stoner, Peru; Donna Welty, Elkhart; and one brother, Hal W. McClain.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Eugene and Bernard McClain.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday, May 20, 2010 at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, St. John. Visitation will be from 4-7:00 before the funeral service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed towards the family.
