Pansy Dewitt

September 20, 1952 — November 30, 2017

Pansy Pauline Dewitt, 65, Kokomo, passed away at 7:13 p.m. on Thursday, November 30, 2017, at St. Vincent Hospital, Indianapolis.

Born September 20, 1952, in Lafayette, Indiana, she was the daughter of Cara and Mary Dewitt.

Pansy was a member of Temple Baptist Church in Kokomo, Indiana.  She worked at Bona Vista in Peru and Kokomo for over thirty years.  Each summer, Pansy enjoyed attending Camp Red Cedar.  She was an avid bowler and and participated with the Howard County Special Olympics Bowling team and competed in many tournaments.  With a competitive spirit, Pansy traveled to Terre Haute where she competed in bocce ball competitions.

Pansy’s smile lit up the room and her love for others gave everyone around her great joy.  She loved fully and unconditionally in a way that cannot be matched by others.

She is survived by the caregivers and friends she has left behind, especially Peggy and Corrie, who believed that she was the best roommate they could have asked for, and they are delighted knowing she is dancing in the heavenly streets of gold.  Also surviving are many friends, including Michael, who has been in her life for many years, and Stacy and Craig, and their children, with whom Pansy would spend Christmas.

Pansy loved making crafts and jewelry and sharing her creations as gifts to others.  She loved all animals and staying up late to watch The Walking Dead.  Some would say that Pansy was “the best painter at BV.”

Pansy will be forever missed and forever loved by her friends at Indiana Mentor, Bona Vista, Special Olympics, and Temple Baptist Church. “Goodbyes are not forever. Goodbyes are not the end. They simply mean we will miss you until we meet again.”

A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2017, at Temple Baptist Church, 1700 S Goyer Rd., Kokomo, Indiana, with Dr. Mike Holloway officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made Special Olympics Bowling or Temple Baptist Church.

McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, has been entrusted with arrangements.   Condolences may be sent online at www.mcclainfh.com.
