Rebecca Sue Swanson

July 27, 1960 — October 6, 2016

Rebecca Sue Swanson, 56, Twelve Mile, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Thursday, October 6, 2016, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester.

Born July 27, 1960, in Monticello, Indiana, she was the daughter of Larry Gene and Shirley Ruth Eisert Martin.  On April 20, 1985, in Twelve Mile, Indiana, she was married to Jeffery David Swanson, and he survives.

Becky was a 1978 graduate of Logansport High School.  She worked for several years as a hairdresser before starting her career as a waitress.  In 2011, along with her husband and children, the Swanson’s became the owners and operators of The Denver Tavern.

Along with her husband Jeff of Twelve Mile, she is survived by her mother, Shirley Martin, Logansport; three children, Rodney David Swanson and companion Kristy Prather, Denver; David Jeffery Swanson and companion Jamie Heckathorn, Macy; Samantha Jo Swanson, Twelve Mile; four grandchildren, Owen Jeffery Swanson, Macy; Rodney David Swanson, Jr., Denver; and Bryce and Drew Kelly, Denver; two sisters, Tina (Mike) Hunt, Buffalo; and Trudie (Jack) Harrison, Twelve Mile; mother-in-law, Rosemary Swanson, Logansport; and sister-in-law, Teresa (Bob) Hoagland, Cape Coral, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father; one brother, Rodney Martin; father-in-law, Roger Swanson; sister-in-law, Chris Townsend; and nephew, Allen Townsend.

A memorial visitation will be held from 4-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver.  A Memorial Service will conclude the time of visitation at 7:00 p.m.

Becky would always place a piggy bank on the bar at the tavern to help local families during the holidays.  Instead of memorial contributions, “The Pig” will be sitting out at the visitation so family and friends can help support one of Becky’s greatest passions—giving to others in need.
