Roland Eugene Sullivan, 79, rural Macy, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Friday, November 26, 2010 at his residence surrounded by his family. Born October 15, 1931 at his family farm in rural Peru, he was the son of Ivan and Julia Birk Sullivan. He was married to Mary Anne Gambee on October 9, 1952 in Peru, Indiana, and they shared over fifty-eight years together. She survives. He was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Township High School. He attended Purdue University before serving in the United States Army in Germany. Roland farmed in Miami County for many years before moving to Fulton County in 1987. He was a member of the Mexico Baptist Church and an active member of the Gideon's. He was active in jail ministry in Miami County. Roland enjoyed spending time with his family and other members of the community. He lived a long and good life and will be fondly remembered and mourned by his family and friends. Roland and his wife were blessed with one daughter, Christie Sullivan Jones and their beloved son-in-law, Kenneth E. Jones, both of Fort Wayne; two brothers Marion Sullivan, Fortville; Max Sullivan, Delphi; and one sister, Alice Ann Gross, Peru. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at Mexico Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Cole officiating. Burial will follow in Sycamore Cemetery, rural Mentone with military graveside rites by the Miami County Military Rites Unit. Visitation will be Monday from 4-8:00 p.m. on Monday at McClain Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons or to Hope Hospice.
