Russell Wayne “Shakey” Slusser, 78 Denver, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Peru.
Born on February 1, 1939, in Logansport, Indiana, he was the son of Russel and Mildred (Carpenter) Slusser. On March 14, 1992, he married Minnie Leona Hetzner, and she survives.
He was a graduate of Deer Creek High School and a veteran of the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one grandson, David Briggans; one step-son, Jerry Wayne (Julie Anne) Hetzner, Kempton, along with their son, Zachary Wayne Hetzner; one brother-in-law, John Paul (Gloria) Hetzner, Kokomo; one sister-in-law, Patty Hetzner and son, Allen Guinn, both of Denver, IN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Wanda K. Briggans.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, June 2, 2017, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Tim Earle officiating. Burial will be in Ever-Rest Memorial Park, Cass County, with military rites by the Miami County Military Rites team.
Visitation will be from 11:30-1:30 p.m. on Friday before the service at the funeral home.
