Samuel L. Tolley, 72, rural Peru, passed away Wednesday morning, November 17, 2010 at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Born August 25, 1938 in Kokomo, Indiana he was the son of Samuel H. and Agnes P. Mann Tolley. On August 9, 1985 at the Macy Christian Church he was married to Betty J. Slisher Landis, and she survives.

Sam was a member of the Peru First Brethren Church and attended Mexico First Brethren Church. He was self-employed and owned and operated Sam Tolley Construction for many years.

Sam held his private pilot's license and flew his own plane for many years. At one time he even went skydiving. He enjoyed woodworking and made many things for his family.

Surviving are his wife, Betty of Peru; seven children, Rick L. Tolley and wife Cindy, Wabash; Duane E. Tolley and wife Valerie, Peru; and Philip E. Tolley and wife Kathy, Wabash; Sara J. Musselman, Denver; Richard Landis and wife Diane, Macy; Larry Landis and wife Greta, Rochester; and Colleen Diveley, Fulton; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Phil Tolley and wife Beverly, Peru; five sisters, Rosie Meives, Peru; Florence Tolley, Georgia; Nina Wold and husband Carl, Peru; Judy Stogsdil, Peru; and Mary Sarver, Denver.

A sister, Nancy Hummel and one brother, Jimmy Tolley preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 20, 2010 at McClain Funeral Home with Pastor Ronald Laudenschlager officiating. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.

Visitation will be Friday, November 19, 2010 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Mexico Lions Club to help benefit a family recovering from a recent housefire.
