Shirley Jean Lamb, 78, Peru, passed away Thursday evening, May 1, 2014 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne, Indiana.
Born March 29, 1936 in Kokomo, Indiana, she was the daughter of Gray K. Gould and Ressie “Jean” Dyer Gould. On April 18, 1969 in Amboy, Indiana, she was married to James B. Lamb, and he survives.
She was a member of New Life United Methodist Church, Mexico, and the former Miami County Women’s’ Chorus. Shirley was a traditional homemaker. Shirley quickly adapted to rural living after marrying Jim, learning the art of gardening, preserving food through freezing and canning, and tending to the needs of her family.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by one son, David Eric Lamb and his wife Jennifer, Peru; one daughter, Julia Jean Lamb Glessner, Warren, Indiana; grandchildren, Shannon Nicole King, Florida; Aaron J. Lamb, Rochester; Sara E. Hovermale, Denver; Stephanie Jean Glessner, Warren, Indiana; Jordon J. Lamb and Morgan L. Lamb, Peru; one brother, James H. Gould, and one sister, Donna Emerson; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother, Julia Catherine Hoggatt Gould, and two sons, Michael Thomas Lamb and Kevin Gray Lamb.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at McClain Funeral Home.
Vistiation will be Tuesday from 3-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
