Tivola R. Hunter, 89, Mexico, passed away at 2:24 p.m. June 6, 2009 at Miller's Merry Manor, Peru. She was born June 20, 1919 in Wawpecong, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Olive Sims Nichols. On April 27, 1940 in Flora, Indiana she was married to Dea L. Hunter, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 1973.
She was a member of the Mexico Church of the Brethren, and a graduate of Clay Township High School, Miami County. Tivola was a talented artist and had created many oil paintings. During her working career, she was the supervisor of quality control at Cleveland Graphite in Fort Wayne. She later managed Shock Toy Store in Broad Ripple.
Survivors include three sisters, Claudette Riley, Amboy; Betty York, Peru; and Joan Case, Nashville, TN; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother, John Nichols, and a sister Marjorie Gottschalk.
Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 10, 2009 at Mexico Church of the Brethren with Pastors Don Ritchey and Dave Bebe officiating. Private burial will be in Greenlawn Cemetery, Mexico.
Friends may call from 2:30-3:30 p.m. before the funeral service.
