Twyla Jane Wray, daughter of E. Wayne Wray and Donna (Metzger) Wray, was born on August 21, 1989. She went to the arms of Jesus on November 19, 2020, at the age of 31 years, 2 months, and 29 days, after a short battle with COVID. With her childlike faith, she understood the need for baptism and was baptized into the Old German Baptist Brethren Church on February 20, 2005, to which she remained faithful.
At the age of twenty-one, she moved to group homes where she made many friends and received excellent care from her staff who became part of her family.
Twyla was a beloved daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, aunt, and cousin. She truly loved people and her big heart and outgoing personality spread sunshine all around. She never forgot your name, and once you had met, you would always remember her. Twyla had a deep love for her family and her church and cherished every get-together. She treasured family meals, birthday dinners, and holidays, sharing stories and laughing together. She adored babies and could usually be found rocking and cuddling one. Singing songs brought her great joy.
She is survived by her parents and four brothers Bruce and Tammy, Gordon and Elisabeth, Kent and Sarah, and Kendall and Melinda; eleven nieces; ten nephews; and a grandmother, Opal Metzger. Preceding her in death are an infant niece and grandparents: Covy and Edna Wray and Everett Metzger.
She was a special child we were privileged to love and care for. We commend her to God and to His care.
