W. Gelene (Bloomer) Skinner

January 22, 1927 — August 9, 2017

W. Gelene Skinner, 90, Twelve Mile, passed away at 9:34 p.m. on Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Logansport.

Born January 22, 1927, in Santa Fe, Indiana, she was the daughter of Lewis Kent “Dick” and Cleo M. Cooper Bloomer.  On September 27, 1945, in Twelve Mile, Indiana, she was married to Frederick E. Skinner, and he preceded her in death on July 18, 2011.

Gelene retired after many years working for the bank in Twelve Mile, Indiana.  In addition to her work at the bank, she prided herself in being a homemaker, always prepared to fix a meal for an unexpected guest.  She also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes.

Survivors include a daughter Sue Skinner Rose and a son Bob Skinner and wife, Christy, all of Twelve Mile; four grandchildren, Tammy Hicks, Lafayette; Vicki Stewart, Logansport; ; Jennifer Skinner. Indianapolis; and Michelle Skinner, Troy, New York; three great-grandchildren, Marissa Hicks, Amanda and Savannah Stewart; and two sisters, Divola Smith, Logansport, and Shirley Everson, Indianapolis.

A service to celebrate the life of Gelene Skinner will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 13, 2017, at the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church with Pastor Darlene DeHaai officiating.

A time to visit with the family will be from 1-3:00 p.m., prior to the service on Sunday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Twelve Mile United Methodist Church.
