William "Buzz" Carter Deeds Ii

William Carter “Buzz” Deeds II, 66, Macy, IN, passed away at 6:15 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Lutheran Hospital Fort Wayne. He was diagnosed with cancer in early 2017. Then in 2019, he was put into remission after taking treatments for his cancer. Thursday April 25, 2024, we then received the news his cancer had come back. He spent his final days at Lutheran hospital with friends and family watching the NFL football draft.

Born August 9, 1957, in Rochester, Fulton County, Indiana, he was the son of William Carter Deeds and Betty Elizabeth (Stuber) Deeds. On October 27, 1979, at the House of Faith in Wabash, he was married to Mary Beth Koons, and she survives.

Buzz attended Macy school and graduated from North Miami High School. He was a longtime member and an elder of the Macy Christian Church. He also was a dedicated member of the North Miami School Board. He retired from the United States Postal Service, after almost thirty years of working there. He enjoyed football (watching, playing, and coaching), doing the stats and clock for the North Miami football team, driving bus for North Miami, visiting the football hall of fame multiple times, suicide cokes from the Streamliner and the buffalo burger.

A couple traditions he held dear to his heart were the father son banquet at his home church and his families annual Deeds Christmas.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Deeds, Macy; one daughter, Elizabeth (Levi) Brannum, Macy; three sons, Ben (Cyndi) Fetrow, Kendallville; William (Amber) Deeds, Guatemala; Paul (Rene) Deeds. New Palestine; eight grandchildren-and one granddaughter on the way: Kailee, Nik, Sebastian, Abra, Ezra, Jackson, Salem, Simeon and “TBD;” one great-grandchild, Spencer; one sister, Carletta (Susan) Welch, Hartford City; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Kailee Raines; sister, Debbie Helton.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 3, 2024, at McClain Funeral Home, Denver, Indiana, with Pastor Brad Hisey officiating. Burial will follow in Deedsville, Indiana Visitation will be from 4-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, at the funeral home.
